Time for an update me thinks!

Well we have had one of our best summers yet at Durhams. Firstly we would like to say a massive thankyou to all our friends and hundreds of new and existing clients for choosing to ride with us this year! Ponies and horses have all worked extremely hard and our now winding down into what promises to be a very long and cold winter. Just a quick update on whats coming up this half term! Pony day spaces still available. In house competition Friday 28th, only open to members of  DFRS who own or loan horses and ponies at the stables. They will have the chance to compete in 3 different challenges - prizes are up for grabs including tickets to Olympia! Then on Sunday 30th October, Halloween is coming to the yard! We are hosting a fancy dress fun day for children and the young at heart adults, hoping to have a pig roast on the go as the night draws in! Lots of games, pumpkins and trick or treating will be crammed into what promises to be a very entertaining day! Finally DFRS is raising money to take all our devoted little helpers to Olympia this year, so far everyone has been very generous but we still have a way to go. These kids give up there free time every week to spend as much time at the yard as they possibly can and we feel they have definately earned a treat! We will be hiring a bus for the day so if you are interested in joining us please contact Pat on 07811 339162! Thank you!!

What a Great Easter Holidays!

We've been absolutely rushed off our feet, here at Durhams. The last 2 weeks have completely flown by and we've had a fabulous time, with Pony Days, 3 Day Camps and Teddy Bear Picnics. Both children and ponies have had a wonderful time. Previously we had posted that our OPEN DAY was taking place this Sunday the 1st May. Unfortunately we've found ourselves terribly unorganised and with jive Pony unable to attend that date we've decided to postpone until the end of June. After we've finalised the details by the end of this week i will post, what we've got planned over the next month. Thank you for being patient with us :)

Spring Fun

Blimey its been a while since we've updated here, but good news as the yard is very busy this Spring. We've had lots of lovely birthday parties taking place and pony days are fully booked up throughout he Easter holidays. The weather is slowly improving and the ponies are very pleased to be out on the Summer fields grazing on the lush grass. We have an Easter Fun Day taing place this Sunday the 17th with lots of fun and games, gymkhana, easter egg hunt and a bbq weather permitting! 3 day Pony Club camp kicks off next Tuesday which we already have an impressive number of eager children booked in for. May 1st is our OPEN DAY with demonstrations running all day, you'll have a chance to see the Jive Pony team in action and a variety of different lessons. We will also be having a yard sale that day with tack, rugs and all things horsey available to buy at bargain prices so do make sure you show your faces as we'd love to see friends old and new! :)

Goodbye Bobby V xx

BOBBY V was a very cheeky boy. A good stocky 13hh Bay, Irish Cob Cross. He was given to us when Molly Vincent his rider had outgrown him. Bobby lived at Durham's Farm for a period of 6 years and in that time was on loan to Ellie Maione and Martha Carey, who loved him very much as did countless others who got to ride him. A safe and reliable pony everywhere except when he was in his stable, knocking many of us literally of our feet sometimes for a taste of freedom. But he always made us laugh and had the respect of many people. A fantastic little riding pony whom loved hunting and had pony clubbed all his life. On the 07/01/2011 he tragically passed away after suffering from colic.
Thank you for all the hard work you did for us Bobby V and for making so many children so happy, we will miss you lots. You are a Legend!
